T5W: Books I Will Never Read

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! Today I am participating in weekly meme Top 5 Wednesday, which is hosted by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes. T5W was created by Lainey from gingerreadslainey. If you want to participate, check out the group's goodreads page here! The prompt for this week is books I will never read. Keep in mind that I don't mean to offend anyone. A book can't please everyone.

Here are my five picks, in no particular order!

My Experience with Audiobooks!

These past couple months, I've been behind in my goodreads goal. Because of this, I finally plunged into reading via audiobooks, which I have always been hesitant to do. I've had my ups and downs, but I think I have finally found my groove. Keep in mind, I am still a newbie to audiobooks!

My First Audiobook

The Book of Ivy by Amy Engel was the first book I listened to. Just over a year passed before I picked up my next audiobook, The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall. Though I didn't necessarily dislike The Book of Ivy, it was such a different experience I didn't know what to think of it. At that time, I still had issues focusing solely on an audiobook and got distracted easily.

My Favorite Audiobook

The Conspiracy of Us is by far my favorite audiobook. It kept my attention the whole entire time, and it is one of the only audiobooks I have listened to where I was anticipating the next time I had time to listen. It was also easy to differentiate among the characters and I never had to rewind because I was confused, which happens a lot for me when I lose focus for a couple of seconds!

My Least Favorite Audiobook

I'm sorry to say that The Kiss of Deception is my least favorite audiobook. I was really into it at first, but the way the narrator did the voices for old texts took me out of the story. After a while, I lacked focus and had to schedule out time to listen to the book. If I do continue on with the series, I will be doing it physically. However, I did like how there were several narrators for the book! The narrators for both Rafe and Kaden were fantastic!

My Current Audiobook

My current audiobook is Crash by Nicole Williams. I am actually listening to it right now as I type! I don't know what to think so far, considering I am only 35 minutes in. (Well, I'm now about two hours in, and liking it!) The two main characters definitely have chemistry, but I can guess their relationship will be pretty tumultuous. Cassandra Campbell is the narrator, and so far she is believable as an upcoming senior in high school.

Besides these four, I've only listened to one other audiobook, City of a Thousand Dolls by Miriam Forester. This is actually right behind The Conspiracy of Us enjoyment-wise. The narration always held me attention. Unlike The Kiss of Deception, I will pick up the second installment in this series via audiobook as well. While five seems like a measly number, I've started to finally decipher what I like and dislike about audiobooks. It takes me a couple days to read them, but I'm starting to feel comfortable with them. It is now the norm for me to listen to an audiobook while driving than listening to music! Audiobooks have allowed me to not only read books that I was somewhat hesitant about reading, but read more often!

Do you like listening to books? What tips would you suggest for me?

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you soon with another post!

Happy Reading!

The Book Sacrifice Tag!

I was tagged by Lauren @ Always Me for the Book Sacrifice Tag! Thanks so much, Lauren! Here is her post. This is actually one of my favorite tags I've seen around the blogosphere; I'm so excited to do this!

1. An Over-Hyped Book

Situation: You’re in a store when the zombie apocalypse hits. The military informs everyone that over-hyped books are the zombies only weakness. What book that everyone else says is amazing but you disliked do you start chucking at the zombies?

I remember being so confused why people loved Looking for Alaska when I read it two years ago. I hated the characters, and the book as a whole was lackluster for me.

Hello and welcome to my blog! I'm Genni, and today I am participating in Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish. This week's topic are books that are still on our TBR or shelves that we had before we started blogging. This isn't too hard for me, considering I've only been blogging for a bit over a year.

Here are books that are still on my goodreads to-read list, in no particular order!

BOOK REVIEW | The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Title: The Problem with Forever
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publiation Date: May 17, 2016
Pages: 474
Source: I bought this at Barnes and Noble!
For some people, silence is a weapon. For Mallory “Mouse” Dodge, it’s a shield. Growing up, she learned that the best way to survive was to say nothing. And even though it’s been four years since her nightmare ended, she’s beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back will last a lifetime.

Now, after years of homeschooling with loving adoptive parents, Mallory must face a new milestone—spending her senior year at public high school. But of all the terrifying and exhilarating scenarios she’s imagined, there’s one she never dreamed of—that she’d run into Rider Stark, the friend and protector she hasn’t seen since childhood, on her very first day.

It doesn’t take long for Mallory to realize that the connection she shared with Rider never really faded. Yet the deeper their bond grows, the more it becomes apparent that she’s not the only one grappling with the lingering scars from the past. And as she watches Rider’s life spiral out of control, Mallory faces a choice between staying silent and speaking out—for the people she loves, the life she wants, and the truths that need to be heard.

Currently Reading/TBR: The Problem with Forever, Pure, Frankenstien

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! Today I'll be talking (writing?) about the books that I am currently reading and what I am planning on reading later this month!

I'm currently reading two different books by Jennifer L. Armentrout and I have no shame. When I start reading JLA, it is hard for me to stop. Here writing isn't fantastic by any means, but it is addicting. A couple days ago I picked up Pure, the second book in the Covenant series. I am liking it a lot so far (I'm a third of the way through), but the romance between Aiden and Alex is getting on my nerves. I can't wait for the action to pick up. The other Armentrout book I'm reading right now is The Problem With Forever, which is her latest release. I finally gave in and today I went to my Barnes & Nobles and bought it. I'm just over 100 pages in and loving it.

Though I just want to read Armentrout all day long, I do have some required reading I have to do. It is only 12 days until I start my senior yet, and I have yet to read any of the three required readings. Today I am going to start reading Frankenstien. I have heard amazing things from all of you, and I'm just going to force myself to pick it up. I always seem to have a hard time starting a book once it is assigned. That's what I get for being a mood reader!
My current audiobook is City of a Thousand Dolls. I hadn't heard too much about the book before I picked it up, but I decided to give it a go! I'm about a third of the way through with this one as well. I did have some trouble getting into the book. My attention always drifted, but it is starting to catch my interest now! I think I'll be done by the end of the week!

What are you currently reading?

Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you soon with another post!

Happy Reading!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books In Space

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! Today I am participating in Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish. Every week we are given a prompt. This week's prompt was Top Ten Books with X Setting, in which we choose a setting of our choice! I love science fiction, so I decided to spotlight ten nine books set in space! I only chose nine for this week because I didn't want to highlight any YA sci fi that I didn't necessarily enjoy.

Netflix and Books Tag!

Hey everyone! So I've been in a pretty bad book slump, and the reason for that is Netflix. It's amazing, but it is a huge problem! I mean, I have watched about four seasons of Grey's Anatomy since June. If any of you are interested, I'm in the middle of season 12 right now. The Netflix and Books Tag was created by Erica from Novel Ink and Lauren from Bookmark Lit! I actually saw this originally at Kay's blog, It's A Book Life, so make sure to check out hers as well!

Nerve was such a thrilling movie and I had so much fun watching it! I did have some faults here and there, but the pros definitely outweighed the cons. If you don't know, Nerve is based off of the YA novel of the same name written by Jeanne Ryan. The plot centers around Venus, or Vee. She is a shy upcoming college freshman who is anything but outgoing. Vee decides to become a player in a Nerve, a game like truth or dare without the truth. The watchers give out dares to players, and the more dangerous they are, the more money the players receive. The movie was released on July 27th, and I saw it on the 31st. I'm going to review the movie in three parts, one for each act.

August TBR!

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! I'm Genni, and today I'll be sharing with you the books that I am planning on reading this August! There are several books on this list that I don't necessarily want to read, but have to for school.
Here are the books I want to read this August, in no particular order.

7) Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
To be honest, I don't know the plot of Brave New World at all. I know it is a dystopian, but besides that,  I'm clueless. I want to go into Brave New World blind though, so I can have the element of surprise. This novel is a required reading for my AP class, so I'll have to read it his month.

6) Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Frankenstein is another book I am for sure reading this month! I have to read it for school, but I am very much looking forward to reading it. Frankenstein is much loved in the book community; I hope I'm not disappointed!

TTT: Books I Would Buy Right This Second!

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! So I know it's Wednesday sorry not sorry but I am going to be participating in Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and Bookish

The topic for this week was Ten Books I'd Buy Right Now If Someone Handed You a Fully Loaded Gift Card

There are a ton books on my TBR, but there are a lot less that I would buy. I normally get my books from my library, and because I am a mood reader, what I get isn't necessarily what I read right away. Nevertheless, there are some books that I would buy right now

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog! July was a pretty hectic month for me, and I only got around to reading 5 books! I'm now 7 books behind my goodreads goal, but I'm planning on reading some graphic novels to help boost that number.

Here are the five books I read in July, from worst to best!
